ROCK SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH
CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES
5900 REYNOLDS RD.
MORROW, GA. 30260
MARCH 28, 1999
DEAR PARENTS,
THIS IS A BAPTISM PERMISSION FORM. YOUR CHILD HAS BEEN COUNSELED ABOUT THEIR SALVATION AND HAS TRUSTED THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AS SAVIOR. THE NEXT STEP IN THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS BELIEVER'S BAPTISM. IF YOU WOULD LIKE FOR YOUR CHILD TO BE BAPTIZED, PLEASE SIGN BELOW.
BAPTISM IS SIMPLY A PICTURE OF WHAT JESUS CHRIST HAS DONE FOR US. HE DIED, HE WAS BURIED, AND HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD. BAPTISM MEANS THAT YOU ARE IDENTIFYING YOURSELF WITH CHRIST AND ARE TAKING A STAND FOR HIM. THIS IS IN OBEDIENCE TO HIM.
OUR NEXT BAPTISM SERVICE WILL BE: MARCH 28, 1999. IF YOUR CHILD WOULD LIKE TO DO THIS, THEY DO NOT NEED TO BRING ANYTHING, AS A SPECIAL BAPTISMAL ROBE IS PROVIDED. WE WILL BAPTIZE AT THE END OF THE 11:00 AM SERVICE. LET ME ENCOURAGE YOU TO COME AND BRING YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS FOR THIS SPECIAL TIME. IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL.

DATE OF BAPTISM________________________________
The great commission is three fold: win them, baptize them, teach them. This is a procedure that we use to get folks baptized (especially children that ride the bus).
We promote this as a special day. We try to get as many as we can about 4 or 5 times a year to be baptized. Of course, we have others baptized along the way, but this is just a special push.
1. Start telling the riders about it 3 weeks before the date set.
2. Teach baptism 2 Sundays before the date. There are several ways to do this, but the best way that I have found is to have a video recording of kids being baptized. We taped about 25 baptisms on one Sunday and use that. This way the kids see exactly what happens. We play this the Sunday before on a TV or Video projector, if you have one. We can stop it a pause it so the kids can ask questions. I teach them that it is a picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of Chirst, and this identifies them with Him. Open up for questions. Bring a kid up front and show them what to expect. Tell them what they must bring (if anything). Bring a baptismal robe into the service for them to see.
3. Doing this as a group accomplishes several things:
The kids getting baptized will not be alone and will feel at ease.
You can bring the Kids Church into the main service to watch it.
It allows me to do the baptizing myself.
4. Pass out permission forms the Sunday prior. Make sure the bus captains have some, as they are the main contact to get into the home and they are the ones that know the kids. We do not baptize any child without a permission form. Make sure you invite the parents as they will want to be there. The permission forms will be in an envelope with a salvation tract and a baptism tract. (The one by Abb Thomas from Master Ministries is good).
5. Sometimes we will baptize toward the early part of the service. I meet with the candidates for about 15 or 20 minutes to assure them, fill out cards, and explain it again. Doing it at the beginning part of the service allows the kids plenty of time to get dressed again and ready to go. I will slip them back into the service when they are all ready.
6. Take pictures of all the kids!!
Below is one permission for we have used. We will try to include some others later on.
